Difference between pedestal wall and column

Pedestal: When the height of the compression member is not more than three times of its lateral dimention, it should be called as Pedestal.

Wall: When the breadth is more than four times of the thickness of the compression member then it will be Wall.

 Column:  When the effective length of the compression member is more than three times of the least dimension Then it is Column.
