UNITS OF PHYSICAL QUANTITIES Or Units of Measurement.
1.2 UNITS OF
PHYSICAL QUANTITIES
Or Units of Measurement.
We need unit for every measurement. Because, without unit,
the measurement is meaningless. Suppose, anyone tells you that the length of
the field is 25, then you should not understand the actual length, but if he
says that the length is 25ft. then you should visualize.the actual length. Here
the Unit of the Length is ft(Feet). That”s
why we can say that Unit is very important in Measurement of Physical
Quantity.
Unit: To measure a Physical Quantity, measure the ratio
between whole quantity to standard quantity after taking a particular quantity
of the material as a standard. The standard quantity is called the Unit of that
particular Quantity.

Fundamental Unit: Units of Length, Mass, Time they are
independent. They Does not depend on each and other one. But they can built
another Unit That’s why they are called Fundamental Unit,
Derrived Unit : Those
units are built with the help of one or more Fundamental Unit.
Ex.- Area(length2) there have two/more than one
length’s unit, similarly
Volume(Length3),Velocity(Length/Time),Acceleration(Length/Time2),
Density(Mass/Length3), Force, Weight, Work, Momentum etc.
